Folkstyel Nationals 2009. We took the most that the E-Rabs have taken in the history of the tournament. We had seven wrestlers participate in the USAW Folkstyle Nationals. All of the wrestlers that paricipated are returning to the E-Rab team next season which was really fun to see. Zach Mutton wrestled 152 and made it to the semi-finals and faced the defending National Champ in freestyel and greco roman. Zach defeated Austin Smith in the quarter final round 10-8. Zach finished 6th gaining All American status. Wally Gamon competed at 105 where he finished 8th and also gaining All American status. Other Erabs wrestling were Gary Graeff, Jon Walker, Zac Vannatta, Mike Decampa and Scott Anderson. In the kids division Dustin Swanson finish 7th gaining All American status in his first season of wrestling. He's going to be one tough E-Rab in the future. |

The 2009 edition of E-Rab Wrestling was a wonderful year to prove that we have attained a respectable level of wrestling once again. Kyle logsdon Places second in the State at 135. Andre Simmons makes it to the semi-finals before spraining his ankle with 14 seconds left in the match get taken down and losses. E-Rab Wrestling are Regional Champions. Finish third in the conference 4 points out of second place. Our banquest was at Sam's on Riverside and it was a very well attended. It was a great year. Looking forward to what is next to come! |

The ERabs fall short again in another close meet. This time it Freeport that out scores us. The meet started at 189 witha win from Mike DeCampa. Then at 215 Anthony Hernandez made his return to aggrevate a football injury. We forfieted 285 and then Here comes Wally Gamon win a quick fall in :21. Jason Woods stepped in again at 112 against a very tough senior. Derriel Gomez man handled his kid and then Yivan Martinez and lesson of how not to defend and 3/4 nelson. Now it's time for Zac Vannatta and he wrestled well but just can't get over that hump. Then Scott Naderson makes his varsity debut with a huge win. Kyle Logsdon made chopped liver out of his opponent as did Zach Mutton facing another tough kid. Jon Walker then had a dissapointing loss and lastly Andre Simmons had an exciting match coming out on top in overtime. |

Wrestling update:
The E-Rabs finished 10th of the 24 team that competed in the Hinsdale Central Invitational. We had four place winners having a great tournament. Kyle Logsdon went unchallenged scoring a technical fall in the championship bout. Tyler Miller finished fourth. Zach Mutton lost in the quarter finals to the 3rd ranked Joey Keilbasa from Crystal Lake Central by a score of 2-1. Zach went on to finish eighth as he struggled getting things back together suffering from his first lose of the season. Andre Simmons wrestled his way to the finals losing to the 5th ranked wrestler in AAA from Carl Sandburg 3-2. I was a great tournament for your E-Rabs and now we are taking a few days off before making our run toward the tournment season. |
