Panthers fall in a 42-34 shootout to the Red Rams of Franklinton. New faces lead during a very entertaining second half of play. Starting at QB for Varsity for the first time this season, #7 Boone Langley, threw three touchdown passes to #32 Brian Williams, #9 DJ Martin, and #11 Laquan Cox. #45 William Floyd had a great first start at tailback as well. Floyd, racked up nearly 100 yards rushing on the night and scored 2 touchdowns of his own.

I hate to see the season come to end folks. I have enjoyed this team tremendously and I appreciate the coaching staff allowing me to blend in and spend some time around them and the kids. That sideline sure can make a 43 year old feel young again. If tonight's second half is any indication, next year may prove to be awesome. Most of that half was keyed around underclassmen who swear they will be hitting that weight room with a vengeance.

We move from the gridiron to the hardwoods in a couple of weeks. See ya in the gym...

Second half shootout ends with the Panthers falling 28-26 after an unsuccessful two point conversion attempt with 35 seconds remaining in the game.

Other than a first series of the game TD by Louisburg, the NoJo defense plays an excellent first half. However, the Panther offense is slow out of the gate and NJ trails 7-0 at the half.

The second half was the polar opposite of the first. North's offense comes out with guns blazing on the ground and through the air. #11 QB Laquan Cox, has his best game of the year passing with 143 yards and a TD pass to #80 Kody Barbour late in the game. Cox also rushes for a TD on a 1 yard QB sneak up the middle. #5 RB Jacques Alston, does his damage in the second half as well, rushing for 141 and hooking up with Cox on a 43 yard pass completion in the last minute of the game. Alston would finish the night with 2 scores of his own.

Unfortunately, Louisburg was also having its way with the NJ defense for most of the second half. Their special teams were able to block a point after attempt by #40 Harrison Grady, which eventually came back to be the deciding play of the game. Although NoJo mounts a great comeback attempt in the last 1:40 of the game, the Panthers can not connect on a two point conversion to tie.

NJ goes to 1-2 in conference play with a road trip up to Littleton, NC next Friday night, as we take on NW Halifax.
